Abstract

In this paper fundamental calculations are distinguished from applied calculations with respect to the mole concept. Ten fundamental calculations are discussed and a teaching model proposed. The use made of these ten fundamental calculations in fourteen chemistry textbooks recently or currently in use in Australian secondary schools is reported and discussed.
