Abstract

This chapter is a response to Bryan Ball’s biblical and theological essays covering Scripture’s authority, inspiration, revelation and sufficiency; the history of the Bible in English including focus on the King James Version; a summary and evaluation of the PJ Wiseman hypothesis of the origin of Genesis; righteousness and redemption in the Pauline letters; the nature of biblical eschatology; sixteenth-century European Christian debates about the state of persons in death, and finally a suggested Christian response to the growing sense of the decline of Western civilisation.
