Abstract

Ellen White spent nine years of her life in Australia (1891-1900) helping to develop the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific region and in particular the establishment of the Avondale School for Christian Workers (now Avondale College of Higher Education). To show her faith in the school project she established a home at Cooranbong where she could advise and help. She travelled to many churches and camp meetings from Queensland to Tasmania, South Australia and New Zealand, as well as writing her book on the life of Christ, The Desire of Ages. She cared for many needy families during the depression of the 1890s and helped relieve sick and suffering humanity that she came in contact with.
