Abstract
The place where all of us begin our interpreting of Scripture is with our own experience. While some might argue that we must start with the Bible itself, this chapter argues that all of us begin our reading of Scripture through the lens of our own situation--our gender, our position of social privilege (or lack of privilege), our age, our race and culture, our denominational heritage, our ecclesial status, our sinfulness, and our particular personality type; to name just some of the subjective factors involved.
