avondale-bepress-to-dspace.summary
Research Background: This volume is the culmination of the creative experiment of translation undertaken by the research team. Earlier efforts highlighted new issues to address, including a more comprehensive coverage of Romanian poetry.

Research Contribution: This volume brings together the skills and experience of the translation team to produce a definitive bilingual anthology of Romanian Poetry, covering the span of Romanian literary history. It refines the translating and editing processes to produce a version which offers the canon of Romanian poetry as well as newer poets.

Research Significance: This volume creates a definitive canon of Romanian poetry, a work never previously attempted in any language, including Romanian. By doing so in both Romanian and English, the volume opens the world of Romanian poetry to the entire English-speaking world.

avondale-bepress.abstract
Romanian Poetry from its Origins to the Present is the most comprehensive bilingual representation of Romanian poetry (English translation side by side with the Romanian original), starting with the earliest discovered poems, to contemporary poets - some of them born only a couple of decades ago. Different to previous editions, this is a critical-reference volume, containing critical notes about each one of the 442 poets included!
