Abstract

When Paul wrote that the law was our pedagogue until Christ came but now that faith had arrived we are no longer under a pedagogue (Galatians 3:24-25), he used a metaphor without parallel in the Greek Bible. Because the term paidagogos is exclusive to Paul in the biblical literature, the commentator is forced to sift through the classical and Hellenistic sources in an effort to elucidate Paul's meaning.
