Abstract
The Promise is an Avondale College of Higher Education vocal ensemble dedicated to excellence. Formed in 2005, the ensemble represents the long and significant history of music at Avondale. Its repertoire ranges from the classics to contemporary gospel and jazz. The Promise tours extensively and Jesus: HIStory is their fourth recorded album.
Jesus: HIStory reimagines the timeless stories of the Gospels. A collaboration between vocal ensemble The Promise, Avondale Jazz Ensemble and its director David Pudney, the gospel-inspired jazz album features 13 original songs presented as a musical narrative.
