Revelation 8:7-12 is acknowledged as a unit of text that symbolically depicts the blowing of the first four trumpets. The sound map will assist in identifying the organic structure of this unit of text in the wider trumpet series and minimize the complexity of understanding the imagery. The research unfolds from the perspective of the ancient hearers. The sound map highlights significant words and phrases from an aural perspective that assist the interpreter in the exegetical endeavour.
en-us
Used by permission: Wipf & Stock and the author.

Copyright © 2018 Wipf & Stock.

Staff and Students of Avondale College may access Sound Matters: New Testament Studies in Sound Mapping electronically via a Primo search here.
sound mappingRevelationA Sound Map of Revelation 8:7-12 and the Implications for Ancient HearersBook Chapter
