Abstract

The chapter begins by tracing the development of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the authority which they currently carry within the practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its institutions. It then outlines the questions asked in the survey completed by teachers in Adventist Schools in the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists that relate to the 28 fundamental beliefs of the church. A chart is provided that reveals that at least 84% of the teachers who completed the survey assented to each of the 28 Fundamental beliefs, an in many cases there was over 95% assent (e.g. 98.6% assented to the statement that “Jesus Christ is the Son of God,” and 99% assented to the statement that “God created the world”).
