Nehemiah, was a slave in the court of the Persian King. He was dispensable, a cup bearer. From a heart filled with empathy, he prayed that God would change the state of affairs in his homeland. As a result of this prayer God gave him a vision of what could happen and then equipped him to realize that vision. Despite painful criticism and the threat of death he never lost his sense of service or his focus on the final goal.
