The author discusses the narrative in 1 Samuel 28 and argues that it is used by supporters of the immortal soul theory to argue that Samuel appeared and spoke after his death, and therefore all humans are conscious after death. This bible chapter historically has had two major interpretations: The prophet Samuel really appeared and that Samuel was impersonated by a Demon.
