Item Testament: Anthology of Romanian Verse(2016-12-01) Bews, Rochelle; Reynaud, Daniel; Foster, Eva; Ionita, DanielThis English-only edition of Testament continues the creative experiment of translation which underpins the research team & research into the process of poetry translation. An expansion of the poems covered lifts this volume from 120 poems to more than 150.
The volume it is geared to the North American continent, and it is monolingual, in English only, to compare and contrast with previous editions.
There are some 30 new poets included in this new volume, while 9 poets from the bilingual editions have been eliminated, in consultation with various critics and literary figures living in the USA. Some poets, considered influential by significant scholars, who were represented with just one poem in previous editions had a second poem added to this Version.
This American edition better represents bilingual Romanian poets resident in North America who also write in Romanian and who, mostly, did not get a chance to get published and become well known in Romania. It also adds poets from the Republic of Moldova, and a couple from France, as well as some important contemporary poets previously overlooked.
