Abstract

The Estate is a landscape painting which utilises an assemblage methodology for the representation of space in a low relief two-dimensional surface. The work maintains a discernible pictorial relationship between figure/ground, via the juxtaposition of individually painted, discreet elements. The work embodies a combination of visual and ‘felt' impressions of the impact of urban developments to previously wooded land in the Lake Macquarie region.
